Certified yoga instructor and author Alan Steelman has the mission to create a viral spread of the message that there is an exit from the anxious, stressed, addicted, and pressured (A.S.A.P.) lives that many helplessly endure today.
Thus, Alan created his organization called exitramp.net to advance this mission. He further explained this in an interview with the Voyage Dallas, a community media publication that features the best of Dallas every day. According to Alan, “mindfulness” is a God-given way to exit the A.S.A.P. Lane and avoid the destructive “false wizards”.
Alan, who was a former member of the US Congress and a global business consultant, shared how he has lived his life in the A.S.A.P. Lane. His passion to put an end to the global epidemic of stress and anxiety has caused him to launch a “movement”, especially to those who are sorely in need of help.
Alan, who wrote the book, Yoga on the Yellow Brick Road: Life in the ASAP Lane! Calm Your Mind, expressed his concern on how more and more people resort to the “false wizards” as a way to cope from stress and anxiety. Pills, alcohol, food, obsessive shopping, and obsessive use of digital devices are all “false wizards”. Just as the Wizard of Oz turned out to be such a disappointing pretender, these health and life-destroying coping substances and mechanisms are failing on their promise of a sustained healthy and happy path for anyone.
Alan focuses his message to the “unconverted”, including non-traditional yoga practitioners: men, seniors, African-Americans, Hispanics, and younger generations (kids/teens/college students).
His important message has also gained attention when he wrote for the Dallas Morning News, one of the largest media company in Dallas-Fort Worth.
In his article, “The Mind Matters“, he emphasized how mindfulness, which is an umbrella term for a combination of yoga and meditation, has helped college and professional football players with mental sharpness and a new competitive edge. Most recently, the Dallas Cowboys American football team have added yoga in their team’s regimen.
Alan, who has lived the life of the proverbial “road warrior”, continues to address this global mental health challenge through his podcast show, Exiting the A.S.A.P. Lane with Alan.
Alan Steelman is an inspiring warrior! Thank you for helping us exit the A.S.A.P. Lane!
