We always hear the expression, “mothers know best”, a phrase that refers to the maternal instinct and wisdom of our well-meaning moms offering their advice to their children.
Some of our BCB authors who recognized their mother’s undisputed role in their lives- from bringing them up into this world to instilling good morals and values- a mother add tremendous contribution into her children’s life.
Hence, Nikki Arnold, Chloe Hung, Peggy Weekes, Charlotte Canion, and Maggie Georgopoulos took their mother’s advice to heart and shared it with Mr. Gift Blog, a blog wherein gift ideas, stories, tips and great advice from the Mr. Gift team are posted and shared.
Giving honor and recognition to our mothers, Mr. Gift blog asked, “What is the best advice that their mums gave?” to which BCB authors’ responses topped the best advices.
Founder and director of Inspired Living International and Author of Amazon Bestselling book, PositiviThinkTM: How to Thrive Not Just Survive, Nikki Arnold said that “The best thing my mum taught me was… to not put ALL of my time and energy into raising my children. My mum said that it was important to also focus on my husband and our relationship, making him a priority when possible and having date nights once a month. My husband and I are still very much in love, are very close, have time for one another and look forward to each date night with anticipation. Thanks Mum!”
International Actuarial Consultant and Coach Chloe Hung also shared her mother’s best advice to which she says, “The best thing my mum taught me was that you must work and study hard to become successful in the future. God rewards those who hustle for what they want.” Chloe took her mother’s advice to heart by becoming a finance and actuarial graduate and penned her book Strength in Numbers: An in-Depth Look at Actuarial Science for Math Enthusiasts.
While Speaker, Consultant, and Author of the book, A Mix of Two World – Nature’s Best From the East and the West for Optimum Health, Peggy Weekes responded that, “The best thing my mum taught me was…to learn to forgive. It is not for us to judge because God is always in control.”
Author, Speaker and Mentor Charlotte Canion quipped a short but powerful advice from her mom, that is, “Lead by Example”. This short and simple advice by her mother inspired Charlotte that she wrote a story about it titled ‘Hands of Love’, which is about how a loving mother passed her talents on to her daughter. She also lovingly dedicates her book, You Have to Laugh to Keep from Crying: How to Parent Your Parents, to her mother.
Meanwhile Leading Global Authority on career development for women and Author of Up the Ladder in a Skirt: Solidifying Your Leadership, One Bold Step at a Time Maggie Georgopoulos shares, “The best thing my mum taught me was that everyone was the same. I was classed as the collector of strays when I was a kid as I always saw everyone as someone who wanted to be included. It meant that the reasons other kids had to avoid them weren’t applied and I liked them for who they were inside. It has lead to who I am today as I’m still a strong believer in diversity and that we all have the ability to succeed.”
