Renowned author and public speaker Ronel Harris bagged the prestigious Special Director’s Award at the 2017 Woman of Stature (WOS) Woman of the Year, last March 11 at the Emperor’s Place, Kempton Park, South Africa.
Under the theme, “Shine Like the Star You Are”, Ronel Harris bested all other finalists in the Special Director’s award category.
The Woman of Stature honors and recognizes women who made significant contributions to their community and economy of South Africa.
According to WOS founder, Charlotte du Plessis, “Woman of Stature’s mission is to empower, educate, up skill, connect and support women, and to offer a platform that helps raise funds for charity. As part of our mission, we host an annual gala dinner to honour those South African women who make a significant contribution to the economy and their respective communities.”
Ms Ronel Harris is truly deserving of the award and epitomizes the WOS’s vision of what a “woman of stature” is. Ronel is a devoted wife and loving mother of three. She is also a serial entrepreneur and the owner and stakeholder of four successful companies, one of which is one of the biggest youth tour operators in South Africa.
However, no success came easy. As a survivor of sexual, mental and physical abuse at the hands of people she trusted, Ronel has experienced hardships from a very young age. She had to learn how to overcome grief, insecurity, poverty and loss – the same problems that women still face to this day. At a young age of 22 years, she has started her own small business with absolutely no knowledge or experience – just an iron will to succeed.
Ronel Harris wrote “Break Free: Find Your Power, Rewrite Your Story and Create an Awesome Life” to share her story, experiences and lessons. She encourages women to speak up and serve as models of inspiration and empowerment.
You are worthy of this recognition! Congratulations, Ronel!
