Never hire someone after first interview. I recommend a 2 step and recently been using a 3 step process. It’s too easy for people to fake first interview but to fake 3 time over the span of a week is difficult. Get other leaders involved as well in interview and get their opinion. Making the wrong hiring decision is the most costly error small business owners can make. The real issue is business people wait until they are desperate before they start interviewing. If you own a business under $5M/year and you’re not spending 80% of your time selling, you are either in big trouble or about to get into big trouble. As the business owner, your #1 job is to sell. The sad fact is that most business owners would rather do ANYTHING other than sell.
