Learning by doing, and not being afraid of making missteps, has been, and remains, at the centre of Sharesz Tarley Wilkinson’s mission to create lifelong success for herself.
As the author of the upcoming book Obstacle Buster: How to Create Big & Bold Shifts for Lifelong Success, Sharesz, a top-level business executive coach, has reaped particular success through LinkedIn Pulse which has featured her articles and, as such, has built for her an extraordinary reputation and lifted her alongside other well-known influencers.
And then there was her being chosen as a speaker for the 2016 Women’s Business Virtual Summit which brought together best-selling authors, business owners and entrepreneurs who have grown their influence, firmly established their respective brands and taken their businesses to new heights.
Sharesz learned about the virtual summit opportunity online, applied to take park and was accepted. She gave her presentation well after midnight her time but she was up to the challenge, noting she was fortunate the hosts were kind and gracious. In addition, because she chose to contribute via a question-and-answer format, the conversation evolved naturally and smoothly. That, she says, made the entire process easier for her to handle.
“Knowing that I have a highly experienced team and publisher behind me made up for an initial lack of self-confidence,” says Sharesz.
“Of course, it also helped to have a solid professional background and experience. All of this was a great mix to have.”
Sharesz is currently in discussions to organise virtual events in collaboration with other thought leaders. She sees it as an easy and great way to gather people from all over the world to provide content and value to an interested audience, be it live or on demand. Collaboration with the right people, she notes, is key.
Sharesz encourages authors to participate in a virtual summit. According to her, it is a great way to practice public speaking skills in baby steps. Since you are not physically standing in front of a large crowd but rather in the comfort of your own office or home, she says you have less jitters.
In addition, Sharesz says a virtual summit is a great way to get exposure. Put simply, sharing insights and ideas with others is a “win-win” win.
“Tip your toes into the water out there and start swimming,” advises Sharesz.
