ANASTASIA BUTTON – Social Media Dynamo Reminds Us Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day But It Was Really Something When It Was Done
Anastasia Button’s upcoming book, #NewJobNewLife: The Millennial’s Take-Charge Plan for Success, is a must-read for Millennials who, like herself, find themselves stressed, confused and frustrated when choosing a career path that’s right for them.
Armed with the knowledge in a recent survey that showed 88% of Millennials are on Facebook, Anastasia has recognized that a strong social media presence must play a lead role in her marketing efforts and she has acted accordingly.
“We all know the best business comes from a referral, so why not use social media as referral hub to get leads from friends of friends?” reasons Anastasia, adding, “When others share your information, posts or content because you are simply awesome to follow and know, that is the ultimate in credibility.”
Anastasia notes that business success, and that of life in general, is rooted in creating, building and nurturing relationships. Social media, she says, allows you to build your brand while earning trust in return. Over just five months, Anastasia’s friend list rose to 1,300 from 650 as she compiled a database of followers – comprised mostly of people she didn’t know prior – and then reached out to their friends, who, in turn, read and shared her posts.
“I spend about two hours a week on my social media promotion, posting and reaching out for contacts,” says Anastasia.
“If you break that down over five days, that’s just 25 minutes daily devoted to reaching out to a billion people and, specifically, a target market looking for your help. Imagine what you could do if you spent one hour daily on social media?” – Anastasia Button
When it comes to social media best practices, Anastasia is clearly well qualified to provide advice. Among her tips is scheduling yours posts to appear daily and doing as much live video as you can, being sure to hash tag anything searchable back to you.
When building your social media presence, the key is patience. Plan for a year of consistent posting before you really start to reap the benefits. If you’re at an event, post a Facebook live video, take photos and schedule posts. Call on friends, family members and business associates to do a video or write a guest blog or, at the very least, encourage them to share your postings.
And remember to have fun, keeping your posts light and a reflection of your unique personality. Anastasia reminds us that you don’t have to be perfect. Followers want to experience the real you. After all, they are your friends, so be a friend in the true sense and people will gravitate towards you and keep coming back.
Building a strong and effective social media presence comes with practice but you have to start and you have to start now. Yesterday is too late. As a key component of your marketing strategy, it’s much too important for you to put off.

His pledge is to only post items that are interesting, relevant and/or inspiring.
Initially, he did much of the legwork himself but he has since passed the responsibility onto a staff member. Still, Dr. Errington remains closely involved in the process to keep things “on track.”
In addition, via Twitter, Dr. Errington posts his thoughts and shares anything that may be viewed as more controversial. And with the help of a marketing service, he is currently building his LinkedIn profile to be more targeted in the direction he wants to go.
“My tip is: start now and keep going,” advises Dr. Errington. “Post on a daily basis – Monday to Friday. You will need to have a small advertising budget when building your Facebook page but it’s worth it as you attract the right customers to your business.”
Dr. Errington strongly recommends spending a few minutes daily putting together a simple message for each social media platform you are on. Come up with a strategy, stick to it, and keep what you post light and visually easy on the eye with a strong positive message.
“Ask for help if you need it,” he stresses. “We can’t know everything and social media is changing all the time. Keep yourself knowledgeable with what is trending. Be topical. And know your audience and target your social media accordingly. Engage with others. Have fun and keep on track.”
